Hey y'all, I've done a great job of avoiding essence armor.  I always figured I'd get around to it eventually.  Anyway, I've been doing some research, and trying to come up with the MOST SIMPLISTIC way to figure all this out, and think I've interpreted all this info into a pretty easy guide, with NO MATH!  LOL

 

Here are groovy graphs where I got a lot of this info.  Look at the bottom of the page!  That's where the good graphs are.  The top of the page is lots of math.

 

Here are the different ratings, what caps there are for each (if any), and whether there are diminishing returns after a certain point.  Finally, recommendations as to what values to shoot for.

 

As a general rule, everyone is going to need to max their mitigations, and, for levels 106-115, get some Finesse!

As of U21, use Vitality to beef up your Morale, not straight Morale!

 

 

Critical Rating - 25% Cap

Pretty linear!  DPSers and healers - get to 20%

 

 

Finesse Rating - 50% Cap (no cap for lvl 115, realistically)

Pretty linear!

Finesse is great 105 and under if you're doing T2 instances or killing mobs which have resistances and avoidances.  Finesse decreases an enemy’s resistances and avoidances.  If the mob you are fighting has little to no resistances or avoidances, then Finesse is a waste.  Here’s the problem, T2 mobs do have resistances and avoidances.  Furthermore stat ratings are factored against on-level opponents, but T2 mobs out-level you.  This means they are more likely to resist or avoid you.  If the mobs you face are resisting/avoiding your attacks, Finesse Rating reduces their chance to do so.

However, all this changes when you get to level 106!!!  Everything 106 and over is a whole new ball game, and you're going to need Finesse.  A lot of it!  The actual Finesse cap for level 115 (50%) is 1,680,000 - but that's stupid, yes?  Forget that.  Shoot for 15% (costs too much to get it an extra 5% to 20%).  Tanks shoot for 10-15%.  You'll need it, because apparently all 106+ mobs have some good resistances and avoidances!

 

 

Phys/Tact Mastery – 400% Cap

Mastery is linear!  Stack as much as you want.  DPSers, you'll want lots of Mastery.

 

 

Outgoing Healing – 70% Cap

You do not get a lot of bang for your buck with Outgoing Healing.  It's an awful curve.  Not recommended.

 

 

Resistance – 50% Cap

Great returns up to 30%, then close to linear up to 50%.

 

 

Crit Defense – No Cap

You get a lot of bang for your buck out of Crit Defense (the curve is really good).

 

 

Incoming Healing – 25% Cap

Great returns up to 10/15%, then decreases.  Tanks and healers should get some incoming healing.  With Level 115 gear, this will have to come from essences, as there's no Incoming Healing on any gear.

 

 

Avoidances B/P/E (Block/Parry/Evade) – 13% Cap on Full Avoidances, 35% Cap on Partial Avoidances, 50% Cap on Partial Mitigations

Shoot for about 10% for Full Avoidances (33,684).  That looks like a great number for all 3 BPE categories.

Also, add another 4,600 onto these numbers for T2/T3.

Tanks, max your BPE (get it to 13% - 64,000 rating). 

 

 

Mitigations – 40%/50%/60% Caps   (need additional 7,760 to get to cap on T2 instances)

 

In this table, I'm not even showing anything less than cap, because you need to get to your cap!  This one's super important!

Updated with U21 changes!  Some Level 105 stuff has been modified slightly, and level 115 stuff has been added.
