Hey guys!
A conversation last night in-game got us to discussion of The Silmarillion, and for those fans who want it, I've an interesting offer.
For the better part of a year, I've been putting together a project that incorporates the complete and unabridged audiobook, the text, over 400 illustrations by fan-artists, and the Atlas of Middle Earth, by Karen Wynn Fonstad (RIP Karen!).
The result is 14 CDs with annotated illustrations, maps and color-coded Eldar family names. Beginning in Mid-November I'd like to make these available to the members of All Shall Fade for free, with the understanding that this is NOT for sale or re-sale, but fan-created content for fans who already own the book and, ostensibly, content rights.
I have made and will make no profit from this project, but it's been fun putting it together and has given me a new-found appreciation for such a dense and, some say, impenetrable, tome.
You can message me here or on Facebook (I'm a member of the All Shall Fade group, name Karl Albrecht), and I'll invite you to a secret group on Facebook, that will not show up on your groups list and is invitation only. Beginning in November, every week I'll send you a message that will have a link on it to a free downloading site. The link will download a .zip file of a folder with tracks in it. When you download the file and unzip it, the result will be a folder of MP3s that you can burn to CD or import into ITunes, or rename or whatever.
The first disc will be the text of the book (color-coded as mentioned above), maps, illustrations, and materials for labels if you wish to print them. The second disc will start the first of the audiobooks.
I do not plan to release this to the general public, just kinmates. There is room for up to 100 members on the FB page.
Hope you enjoy them, just give me a shout if you want in!

Maybe it would be easier to simply post links here. So's peeps don't have to run out and get a Facebook account if they don't want one.
The thing is they'd only be good for a little bit, then they'd expire. Ah well, I've still got a little time.

sign me up .. my facebook email address is hoffort@shaw.ca ... invite me to be your friend.
Although I'm a facebook user, I have never gone looking for groups.
Could someone in the ASF Group invite Stephen Hoffort?
Thanks

I think Aragorn and Arwen are very slimmly related but ohhhh so tiny after so many years from luthien and beren.

Wow, guys! Way to revive a three-year-old post!
I'll see what I can do to revive this as it seems that there is indeed interest.
To flesh out Vraol's comment: Yes, they are indeed related by blood.
Elrond and Elros trace their lineage back to Luthien and Beren.
Luthien...........Beren
...........Dior..........(m.Nimloth (niece of Celeborn))
...Elwing...............(m. Earendil)
Elrond and Elros (brothers)
So from these two brothers, Elrond stays Elven and fathers Arwen (and those idiot brothers), while Elros elects to be human and starts the Royal line of Numenor.
The term REMOVED is used in cases where the relations are separated by generations, so as Arwen is a direct descendant of Elrond, any kids that ELROS has are removed from her after the first generation.
Elros' line goes through all the Kings of Numenor and the Line of Gondor, so from my sketchy calculations, Aragorn is Arwen's second cousin, ninety-three times removed.
